So I've come across the term "shot effect" (in relation to painting, specifically color) twice and I have no idea what it means.
Google search gave me with nothing.
Sentences:
"Basic colours of moss-green, ruby-red and golden-brown have been enlivened by Castagno's use of shot effects. With broad strokes of the brush he applies light blue, pink and honey-yellow to these firm colours."
"In the second group on the right Matthew is clothed in bright blue, which together with Jude's ochre tunic and the carmine-violet shot effect of Simon's cloak forms a perfect three-note chord."
Anybody??
It seems like a layering-of-colors thing...but I really don't want to use it in a paper if I don't understand it, yeah?
