Great things about the movie Sweet November:
- Jason Isaacs
- Jason Isaacs in drag (hideous and HOT at the same time. How does he do it?)
- That cute kid from the Lemony Snicket movie (when does he turn 18?)
- The cinematography is really good. Like...really good. Too good to be wasted on a movie like this
- Charlize Theron in her second best performance ever (the best being in The Italian Job, of course)
- Jason Isaacs, again
- He lets her go/she leaves in the end (thank god)

And the downside?
- It's not very good
- It's predictable
- Keanu Reeves isn't a good actor. Ever, really. With the notable exception of the Bill and Ted movies (that's right...plural. Excellent Adventure AND Bogus Journey.)
- I'm sure if this had been based on a book, the book would have been really good

And now I'm onto Gosford Park, which I'm sure would be amazing if I could get over how many fucking stars are in this movie and try to concentrate on the storyline.

I saw Constantine. It was rather crappy, but actually the IDEA behind it, the sort of mythology of heaven and hell, was rather intriguing and I thought about it for a while after I watched it. It kind of reminds me of a Spanish movie called Sin noticias de Dios (Don't Tempt Me), with Penelope Cruz, Gabriel Garcia Bernal, Fanny Ardant, and Gemma Jones, which you should see. Plus, Rachel Weisz plays everything so sincerely and intensely, it's hard not to admire her; and Djimon Honsou and Tilda Swinton rock hardcore in it. Tilda's the archangel Gabriel, and she wears this rockin outfit that I want.

I agree that the idea was interesting. When I first saw the trailer, I was like "Huh, cool." It made me think of The Last Judgement my Michaelangelo in the Sistine Chapel (a favorite of mine) and I liked the initial idea. But it looked like the movie itself was going to be very thriller-oriented, or at least that's how it was being marketed.

The Spanish movie sounds good. I'm not a huge Penelope Cruz fan, but she was pretty good in All About My Mother, and decent in Sahara (though I thought her storyline could have been eliminated completely. It was all about the Matthew and Steve Zahn). I'll add it to my Netflix queue.

Penelope rocks hard in this movie, but I can't tell you why because it'll spoil something good about the movie. I think Penelope is good, she has a good feeling and has chemistry with anyone; she even provided some of the best moments in All the Pretty Horses, which was a bitch to sit through (only managed because I'd read the book), and she's very good in Belle Epoque, I don't know if you saw that.

But I do agree about Sahara. I still crack up when I think about the part where they're bantering about checking out the canon and one of them makes a crack about grabbing coffee or something, I know you know what I'm on about.
