My mother is watching the Miss America pageant, and I don't think I could be less interested. The girls aren't even that pretty, if you want to know my opinion. That said, DC and Alabama are the most promising. The others are just obnoxious.

We did just finish watching Playing By Heart, though, which is such a fantastic movie. Not particularly dignified or newsworthy (to quote Love Actually) but the acting is solid, the stories are touching, and the love seems real...even for a cynic such as myself. Rent it, and don't try to analyze it. The stories will come together on their own.

And now, I'm getting on my PJs and I suppose I'll watch to see who wins Miss America. Then it's bedtime. Or something that resembles bedtime.

I love Playing By Heart, too, there is something so sweet and sincere about it, and I like the quote at the beginning that says that talking about love is neccessary but you never get it right. I think that's a way, way clever way of saying that the movie's imperfect, too, but who cares because they're at least trying. Ooh ooh.

How was Miss America? Damn pageants...

What I learned from the Miss America Pagaent: Pretty girls don't have to be talented or smart. In fact, moderately-pretty girls don't have to be talented or smart either.
