It all started last Tuesday. I drove around and chatted with Crystal the elder.
Then Wednesday...well I forgot what I was doing, but we decided to have a tofu dinner at Nikki's the next night.
So Thursday I went to Nikki's for dinner with Allie (a tofu stir-fry), and Amanda and Carly showed up later. Nik, Al, and I went to the Ram at midnight to get Nikki birthday drinks. $2.75 long islands with schnapps...the raspberry ones were great. And cheap. Excellent.
Friday was "Christmas". Family time was had, and it was fun. I posted a small bit about it. I did well at poker and drinks were flowing.
Saturday was New Year's Eve, so I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house for a couple hours. Ate some snack-ish foods and hung around with the family until it was time to go to Allie's. It was a rather chill evening. Allie, Amanda, Nikki and I were there the whole time. Zoe was back from Luxembourg. Caitlin left early. Goldy and Pat came over a bit later. Candace stopped by. Jessie and Ali were there much later. Everyone was gone by 2am, and I crashed at Allie's.
Sunday, I was kicked out of Allie's and I went to Zoe's. First, Becky was over, so I was isolated to her room for a while, then I decided to ditch out and go to lunch with the family before Fayanne and Brad went back down to Mattoon. After, I went back to Zoe's so we could actually hang, but she had to go visit the grandparents, so I ended up sitting around her house with her parents and reading a book until she came back so that we could go see Brokeback Mountain (still good, the second time...if not better). Then, I went up to Gurnee to meet my sister and the kids for dinner at the Olive Garden. We came home and played a game of Simpson's Game of Life. I was so damn tired, I slept for 11 hours.
Today, I went down to Deerfield to chill with Becca and Carly (Scho) at Starbuck's. It was very good, but I had to return to Antioch to babysit the niece. So I took her to Arby's for dinner, and then we watched Treasure Planet, which wasn't great, but it had some good parts. Now, I'm watching Return of the Secaucus Seven, John Sayle's independent film that "prequel'ed" The Big Chill (a personal favorite).
Tomorrow, I'll be meeting my sister for lunch around 11:30 at Sushi Kushi Toyo in Lake Forest before possibly catching a movie with some Deerfield folk. Then I pick up my niece to meet my sister to see Wicked downtown.
Wednesday, my flight leaves O'Hare at 9:19am and I'll be Florida-bound. I don't want to go back. But I don't much want to stay here either. It's an odd in-between worlds transitional thing.
