Okay. So I woke up this morning at 9:11. We were supposed to meet at Ali's for the Faire at 9:15.

I decided to go, called Candace and said I was running late. Got ready in record time and was at her house by 9:25. *shrug*

Had a fun time. Wanted to buy a LOT more stuff. I only got a pair of earrings. Boo.

BUT!! In the mail today came a refund of a deposit from Eastern Illinois University. Now...it's in my name. And the parents didn't know that we would be getting a refund.

Poll #163820 $250 or not $250...

Do I keep the money for myself?

Whoooooaaaaa...take the money and run!!!!
You should give it back to your mother because it was her's in the first place. And she is paying for your tuition at Indiana University.

I could use $250. Since I just gave Mama $500 for Seattle. And I'm broke as a joke. And between buying a digital camera and all the other stuff I'll need for college (RAM, mouse and other computer stuff I can't justify having Mommy buy) I'll need it. Because I'm a starving college student. And it's $250.

Cici especially should answer this. What do you think? She'll never be the wiser...

My family is odd in that your finances are your finances and no one asks questions as to "where did you get the money to buy all this?" or "how much did you spend when you went out?" My mom doesn't know how much I have in my checking account. She doesn't know how much I get paid at camp. She doesn't know how much I spend or what money I have. Every once in a while she'll give me $20 for an allowance, but that's the only involvement she has in my spending.

It's odd I guess, because a lot of times my friends have to call their parents for permission to buy things, especially something expensive. With me, it's my money and I can spend it how I wish. I definitely like the freedom and privacy of this, and I think it's given me a better grasp on where my money goes and how to be responsible. Sure, I still buy stuff that I don't need, but never in complete excess.

That's awesome. Well, good luck in that decision, and sorry I didn't have any helpful input, heh.
