I've Sure Enjoyed the Rain

(no subject)

While several people seem to be having a snow day today (including my teacher-sister Fayanne), it's friggin' RAINING cats and dogs here.

Like, crazy huge thunderstorms...and I still have to get my ass out to class in a half hour.

And I checked weather.com, hoping that in a half hour when I have to leave, the rain would be letting up.

But oh no. It's just starting. And the temperature will be dropping about 10 degrees pretty quickly.

I'm going to be soaking wet and cold by the time I get to class. Then I get to sit there for 75 minutes and learn about 20th Century art for my midterm on Thursday.

I'm not excited.

You're simply the best, better than all the rest...

So I was listening to "Taking the Long Way" (Grammy Album of the Year...aww yeah), and I was thinking, "Wow, it's probably been like...10 years since I've owned an Album of the Year."

I'm not so music saavy...I just listen to what I like.

But then I looked it up (dudes, wikipedia has EVERYTHING), and it's only been 4 years. 2003's Album of the Year was Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me."

Oh well.

But I do only own 5 Albums of the Year, out of a possible 49. Yikes.

2007: Taking the Long Way - Dixie Chicks
2003: Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
2000: Supernatural - Santana
1997: Falling Into You - Celine Dion (hey, it was pre-Titanic and an excellent album)
1996: Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette

Feel free to check your own stats here.

Oh, and can anyone explain to me the difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year? It seems that one is given to the producers and performers of a song and the other to the composer...but is it really necessary?

I'm pretty music illiterate and I guess one could equate it to Best Screenplay and Best Picture, but I really can't find that comparable.

Thoughts?

Last note:

The weather was so bad here (in case you thought I was exaggerating before...I wasn't) that they interrupted Ellen twice to give updates. The worst part is that it was during Peter O'Toole, and I don't know it y'all saw him on The Daily Show, but it was awkward and not so good, but he was REALLY GOOD on Ellen...though I missed about 3 minutes of it for a weather update. Stupids.

OH!

I just died!!!!

And went to "gay fantasies" heaven!

Dominic Monaghan was on Ellen today and they were talking about David Beckham and, I kid you not, he said the following (and I had it on TiVo, so I rewatched it like 17 times to get the wording exact)...

Dom: But he's a great player and a gorgeous guy, and if I was gonna kiss a bloke...
Ellen: It'd be him?
Dom: It would probably be David Beckham.
Ellen: I don't blame you.
Dom: Or Eddie Izzard. Oh, I love Eddie Izzard.
Ellen: Oh, I love Eddie Izzard too.
Dom: Has he been on the show? Have you yet?
Ellen: He has not, and I love Eddie Izzard.
Dom: You should get David Beckham and Eddie Izzard to make out on your show.
Ellen: We'll wait for sweeps.
Dom: Boost the ratings.

Oh Dom...the things you won't say. Beckham and Eddie Izzard making out? If it weren't rumored (and implied during the interview) that you were dating Evangeline Lilly, I would be very suspicious.

But seriously? Beckham and Izzard action? I approve. I'd also get in on that.

[Edit: I'm so totally obsessed with this icon. It's cute and funny and covered in beeeees. Oh man. Eddie Izzard rocks so hardcore.
