Baby you're a big star now

I (regretfully) stayed up to watch Beaches last night after "Love Monkey" because honestly...what woman can resist Beaches? I remember my mom and I going to Marshfield, Wisconsin one time to visit my Grandma...just the two of us for some reason...and we listened to the soundtrack NON-STOP. For the five hours it takes to get from Deerfield to Marshfield, we listened to the tape on repeat. The movie came out in late 1988, so this was probably 1989, maybe 1990. So I was 5 and I knew every word to every song on that tape...front and back.

How could I turn down such a memory-ridden movie?

But that means I was up until 1:30, then I still had some reading to do. I promptly quit that at 1:45 so I could get a whopping 5 and a half hours of sleep.

Oy, I should have never scheduled a 9am. I realize some people have 7am and 8am classes, but it's hardly different. To me, getting up at 7:30 for my 9am is as bad (if not worse) than getting up at 6am for a 7am class (notice how the earlier the class is, the less time I give myself to get ready. For my 3pm class, I get up at noon).

Anyway...moral of the story, 10:30 is in fact the earliest I can take a class and function properly.

Sometimes I look back at high school with wonder. I don't know how I did it. Late nights, long days, too much work to fit in the brief time between activities and sleep...so sleep got the shaft. I almost envy that monster I used to be. She got shit done.

She had said "don't cry," said "it only hurts forever, and all we have is time..."

A bit of fun from IMDb:

Rapper Kanye West has a new feud brewing with America's Catholic League after posing as the wounded Jesus Christ on the cover of the upcoming issue of music magazine Rolling Stone. Bloodied West appears wearing a crown of thorns on his head in a provocative shot, which has upset the religious group's leaders, who are calling his latest controversial act "offensive" and "trite." Catholic League spokeswoman Kiera McCaffrey says, "It's moronic. I mean, Kanye West as Jesus? He's a pop star." But the Jesus Walks rapper insists he has a lot in common with Christ because he has to fight for recognition and suffer for success. In the accompanying article, West talks about the criticism fired at him last year when he famously suggested President George W. Bush was a racist during a Hurricane Katrina telethon, and criticized the US leader for not reacting to the disaster quicker. He explains, "If I was more complacent and I let things slide, my life would be easier, but you all wouldn't be as entertained. My misery is your pleasure." In the Rolling Stone spread, West also poses as boxing great Muhammad Ali.

I think my favorite part is: "It's moronic. I mean, Kanye West as Jesus? He's a pop star."

What's wrong with Jesus being a pop star??

Poll #659995 My Weekend

This weekend, should I...

Go to my mother's house where she will make me food, take me shopping, do my laundry, and get on my nerves
Stay at my apartment where I can be lazy and watch movies, get some school work done, and go see The Matador [and possibly Brokeback Mountain (again)]

"Welcome to the real world," she said to me, condescendingly...

I update too much...apologies all around.

I took Advil, but not soon enough. My head feels like it's going to explode. I don't get headaches very often, so two in one week is really unnerving.

I'm trying to get to bed early because of the lack of sleep I got last night, but the headache is keeping me awake. I'm uncomfortable no matter what I do. The computer screen isn't helping much, though it is as dim as it can get.

In other news, the love of my life won the Project Runway challenge tonight. Yay Daniel V. He's pretty and talented, and I think he might actually be straight. Whoa.
