Alanis - Unsexy

Catch me if you can, I've gotta make a getaway

I forgot to mention yesterday that after the CCRC, Candace and I went to Target. Bought a big tub of animal crackers for our locker group, and some graham cracker sticks too.

And we went to the CD section. The new BBMak was only $8. I caved and bought it.

Mmm...pretty British singing boys. *drools*

Yeah. So I'm listening to that right now.

Other than that...I didn't get enough sleep last night. And I've been up for nearly 45 minutes to an hour.

The parents are going to be gone all day. Golfing with the neighbors, then having dinner. By the time they get home, I'll probably be gone.

We're going to Navy Pier tonight. Yay and boo. I don't want to go so much. Right now, it's me, Candace, Allie, Amanda, Carly and Charlie. We may have to call people later to see if they wanted to come (Zoe, Garvey, Rob, etc.)

La la la. House to self today. Nice nice nice stuff.

Oy...Collapse )

On a happier note...
-In one week at this time, I'll be visiting Fayanne at college in Mattoon. Then we will be going over to Indiana and taking a tour there.
-In two weeks at this time, I'll be in New York with Cici. Seeing Joey in RENT and who knows what else. [Which Mommy paid for. :( ]

*sigh* I should do something with my day.

...dreamers

We can be heroes, forever and ever!

So I watched Moulin Rouge.

Liked it a lot better this time...I suppose. I don't know what exactly it is that I don't like about it.

I like the concept.
I like the acting.
I like the singing.
I like the story.
I think the sets and costumes were great.
I really enjoy the choice to use modern songs in a period piece and I think it worked really well.

The only think I'd change is the ending (I think the Duke should end up firing the gun, killing Satine accidentally. It would cut out the unnecessary false hope of "happily ever after").

So. I don't know. Something just isn't right.

But at least I can appreciate the artistic side to it...I suppose.

*sigh*

Navy Pier in an hour, or so. I offered my house for a meeting spot, so I guess I can't really duck out.

Still don't really want to go. I'm feeling like Holden right now. Not up for the bullshit and phony stuff, but unfortunately, that makes me not so fun to be around. And then people start asking me 'what's wrong?'

Nothing. I'm just tired today. Tired of wearing a mask. Tired of being happy. Tired of being unhappy. Tired of it all. Just let me be blah.

My mother says to get a job, but she don't like one she's got

Well.

Things could have been worse.

It ended up being Allie, Ben, Candace, Aaron and Lizzie. And me, of course.

Erm...yeah.

So I eventually got over myself and it was enjoyable. I love the city, and the lake, and walking around...so all in all, it couldn't really go wrong.

We got there and walked down the length of the pier. It's a lot longer than initially it seems. And it's just. In the most beautiful city in the world. On the best lake in the world. Yes. I do love Chicago.

So we walk to one end and wander around. We decided to get dinner. Since the line at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was HUGE, we settled for Joe's Be-bob Cafe, which was really good. After that, we went on the ferris wheel. Whee! The big, huge, cool ferris wheel that I had never been on before. It was awesome.

Then we did a little shopping and hanging out inside the market area. After, it was getting late, so we found an excellent spot on the railing at the East end of the pier to watch the fireworks from. We sat around and waited for about 45 minutes, then watched the show...which was really great. And they had music (all patriotic, of course) playing.

We've decided that fireworks are better with music.

And I have a ton of pictures. I love the skyline! So once I get a chance to upload those, they'll be going on my site, and hopefully linked into my journal.

My kind of town, Chicago is...

:)

And I'm spent.
