My English Essay:

I have found it hard lately to think about anything but The World Trade Center crash. Like many Americans, I was devastated upon hearing that the United States was hit with terrorism that would kill thousands of people. However, soon after initial shock wore out, we saw something come over our bruised country. Unity. Community. People helping people. Self-less acts were everywhere from the streets of New York, and extending across the country to California. In the wake of an incident like this, we see people at their best, and coming together for a common good.

Thousands of people rushed to donate blood to help the hundreds of victims that needed it more than they. Impromptu religious services, as well as memorial services and candle-light vigils were held, allowing any of those grieving or feeling alone to come together. President Bush made Friday, September 14th a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance. Even other countries around the world have shown their support in our time of need. Britain arranged a special changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace, while playing "The Star-Spangled Banner". Switzerland observed a moment of silence in our honor, as did several others. Many countries have extended their thoughts, prayers, and support for however we decide to deal with the attacks. As the article by a Canadian journalist writing during Vietnam states, "the Americans [are] the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth." He goes on to say how we are always the ones to extend a hand to those in need. Whether providing aide or money or assistance, we always put forth the effort without expecting anything in return.

In my opinion, I feel that this is why so many countries are grieving with us. Sure, some countries feel the hatred of terrorism attacks everyday. Some countries require you to fear when walking down the street. However, that sort of thing doesnt happen in the United States. We established a peaceful country for ourselves, though we try to help others less fortunate that we, wherever we can. Wherever we are needed, we are there. That is why this was so devastating. Not since Pearl Harbor have we been so disrespected, and as in that instance, there was nothing we did to provoke it, besides provide a free country for those willing to come.

Many people have come to talk about the United States as a country with a "war-time" economy. Even in the depths of a world war, we can survive, and even prosper. The same goes for our humanity. A tragedy only brings us closer together. It would take a lot more than destroying the World Trade Center and part of the Pentagon to destroy the heart of this country. We are strong. We are a super power. We can come back from this. We will come back from this, and we will be greater than ever. We as Americans will not allow ourselves to be torn apart by faceless cowards who have to resort to killing innocents to prove a point. We will stand together and come out standing tall. We have never lost a war, and we dont intend on starting with ignorant terrorists. Japan learned not to screw with the United States, and though they started with a hit below the belt, they were not the ones to win the fight.

I fear I may have gotten side tracked while showing that we come together as a country in times of need. That we dont accept defeat. That we help each other first and foremost, then go on to dealing with predators. That we are giving by nature, having dealt with our own battle for independence and struggle for civil unity. In any light, after we raise our flag high to the sky, and blow out our candle from the nation and world wide 7pm lighting last Friday, we will dust ourselves off and join together for the purpose of saving our free country. We will ensure that our children, and our childrens children will have a life of liberties and prosperity, and without fear that there will be a tomorrow.

"Goodnight Everybody!"..."Goodnight Dr. Nick!"

I enjoyed that essay. I thought I wrote it fairly well, especially considering I started it an hour ago, and I'm really tired.

I had a couple things to say, but I've forgot them now. Oh well.

If someone could please tell me how to link make an inter-entry link thing, so the next time I decide to put my essays on journal, you don't have to read them and they won't take up space. Thank you muchly!

Happy New Year!

To all those who are Jewish, or practicing Judaism, I'd like to with you a Happy New Year, and I hope you enjoy your Rosh Hashana festivities.

I will, because, though I'm not Jewish, the town I live in is split fairly evenly between Judaism and Christianity. It's nice because we get days off of school :o) but it also teaches a certain form of tolerance. One we seem to be lacking lately. I've heard so many stories of gays and pagans being blamed for the tragedy. A friend of mine claims to be a pagan, and became upset during her History class today because someone made a comment of the "pagans causing everything" topic that's been going on, and the teacher made a grunt of acknowledgment. People are so ignorant sometimes. For those who find themselves the object of intolerance, hang in there. Things will get better. The government protects your freedom of religion. order of business. I'm bored. My VCR is the coolest. Well, actually it's been completely wonky lately. I set it to record the Ananda Lewis Show today. Which it did...for 2 minutes before cutting to TRL which I also taped. Thankfully puppies were not on Ananda, and I haven't gotten through TRL.

Well, I have no school tomorrow, nor do I have that much homework. It's great to have teachers that understand that there are high holidays, and many people will be preoccupied. So, I'm sure I will post a bunch. Probably not like yesterday. That was insane. I didn't realize how much I was actually posting. Crazy. Also, if anyone read my English Essay and would like to give me feedback, I would be glad to hear it.

Walk On - U2 (on TRL)

(no subject)

Just downloaded Van Halen's "Right Now" because it is an awesome song. Looses something without the words across the screen, but oh well.

TIPY is on TRL. Yay. It is unnatural for those boys to be that hot. *sigh* Sexy guy sweaters were the best invention ever. I would take any of them dressed like that.

John Norris has to admit he's going bald and stop wearing those ugly toupees. At least this one isn't as bad as some have been.

I think I'm going to find new pictures for icons today and tomorrow. I need a Rob Thomas one. I know, *gasp*, I don't have one. So crazy. But I have a hot Kyle from Dexter Freebish. Yay Kyle.

All For You - Janet on TRL

Scratch that...

So much for not posting a lot....ha ha ha!

My taping today ended up producing nothing. No puppies on Ananda, no puppies on TRL. It's okay though, because those shows were devoted to more important things.

Regular TRL will start again next Monday. Maybe puppies then. I guess I'll watch for Ananda tomorrow. I'll be home, so I won't have to worry about setting my VCR.

In other news, I'm getting a gargantuously huge pimple on my chin. Eww. Gross. Yuck. Blah. Oh well. Nothing I can do about it now. I'll just have to wait it out.

Good kid dot com

I'm such a good kid! I did all of my homework (except the History paper...can you procrastination?). I even read the physics lab (who reads labs?), and read the first play in "The Kentucky Cycle" for English and it hasn't even formally been assigned. It will be Wednesday night's homework. Yay me.

In other news, I'm actually on AIM. Haven't been for a million years. Talking to Elliott in Arizona. Yay. Generally, I don't like to go on, because my buddy list is intimidating. 18/69 people are signed on right now. I don't talk to most of them, but I have the potential of talking to about half. Which means a lot of conversations at once, and I like the one-on-one thing. To prove my point, Nikki just IMed me, and now both little boxes are flashing at the bottom of the screen. *Yes, I see you cut that out* Grrr...not a fan of AIM too much.

I honestly don't want to rub it in, but I'm so glad I don't have school tomorrow. It's only been 2 and a half weeks, and already I can't drag my butt out of bed in the mornings. I need a break. And then Yom Kippur is next Thursday, so another day off. Columbus Day is just around the corner too. And before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving break. *sigh* looking forward to the future already. It's gonna be a long year.

Yeah, so school is a depressing topic. How 'bout this? Tomorrow night, Ci and I will be seeing Five For Fighting at the House of Blues in Chicago. Yay fun-ness. I'm excited, since, ya know, it got canceled last Friday. Hopefully it will all work out well.

Silly gail. I left my gym bad on my bed. However, inside was my wet swimsuit and towel. Now my bed has a big wet spot. Oh well, I'm not planning on going to sleep any time soon; it will dry. I had to do a wet-exit in the kayak today. That's where you purposely flip yourself upside-down and have to get out. It sucked a lot. A bunch of people were like "oh, it's not that bad after you do it." Gabbi and I were like, "you people lie, that was not good". Oh, god. I just used the word "like" twice. I've been living on the North Shore for too long. Soon I'll be walking around with my hundred dollar Abercrombie sweater, and Gap purse, while wearing a pair of Express jeans - all of which my mom bought for me. Oh shit! Well, I bought the purse myself with an allowance from mommy. *shrugs* If you can't beat them, join them.

I go now. Be back later.

"With my head I'll think, from my heart I'll sing..."

Couple things...

One, cus I was bored and no one was posting anything new, I've been reading my old entries for the past half hour. I like my Journal a lot.

Two, my VCR is out to get me! I swear to god! Okay, so first, I mentioned that during the VMA's it randomly stopped recording. So I hit record again, and after a few seconds, it turns off. Not just stops recording, TURNS OFF. Okay, so the VCR is possessed. I can handle that. I tape the 4 acceptance speeches by the boys, and their performance and everything is happy. Today, I set the VCR for Ananda Lewis. It tapes about 3 minutes before cutting out completely and picking up with TRL which I had set for later. I can deal with this, the puppies weren't on Ananda today anyway. However, what I *just* realized. When I rewound to before the Ananda/TRL today so I could tape over it, the last thing on the tape was Teen Choice Awards. Where the hell did the VMA's go?!?!?!?! I know for a fact that I would not have had the tape set to between the TCA and VMAs. I realize that sometimes I am absent minded and do stupid stuff...but I would not have done this. Fucked up piece of foreign crap. I no longer trust my own VCR.

Might go to bed soon. Try to get a really good night's sleep so I can make it through the rest of the week. *sigh*

Good night all!
