Exciting news: our hot water heater should be fixed. I've taken 3 very cold showers (though sadly not the coldest showers of my life) in the past three days, so I shall undoubtedly enjoy tomorrow morning immensely.
Funny news: while the maintenance guy was here fixing the aforementioned hot water heater, the Mormons came to the door. I said I wasn't interested (and, I must admit, kinda laughed at them), at which point they asked me if the maintenance guy would be interested. I said "probably not," and promptly closed the door.
After, the maintenance guy made a call to the apartment manager to ask if the Mormons had gotten permission to go door-to-door and solicit residents. I'm guessing the answer was "no" because he responded with "alright, I'm going to tell them to leave."
Point breakdown: Maintenance guy - 1, Mormons - 0.
And for some appropriate humor, ( Julia Sweeney in her comedy routine 'Letting Go of God' )

"I've have just never been a supporter of relationships in general, my feeling is always that relationships are a lot like yard sales. They look really fun from a couple hundred feet away, but eventually you realize that's it just a bunch of crap you don't need."
I had to share that gem fro Christian Finnegan, a stand-up comedian Zoe told me about recently.
I think it's hilarious...you can find some clips on You Tube. I highly recommend the "Monopoly" one...because it is me.
Alright, shower time.

Another reason to love Kathy Griffin?
She's scared of Southerners too!
(Yes, I'm still watching her stand-up routines. There were like...5 in a row that I TiVo'ed and I can only watch one a day, because I'm supposedly studying for finals...)
PS - The 19th Century Art final was okay. Definitely not as easy as I was hoping, but if I manage an 86...I think I could get an A for the course. Which would be AMAZING and a grand improvement over my C in Italian Renaissance Art class.
And now...studying for my crazy ass Chemistry final. If you'll recall from earlier drama, my final will be counted twice (to make up for a lost exam three scantron). It's also cumulative (all 11 chapters we've covered), and 60 questions (instead of the usual 30).
Oy.

Honestly, who needs TMZ or any of that crap when you have Kathy Griffin?
She has all the best inside scoop and is, by definition, hilarious.
I really do kinda adore her.

So I watched Kathy Griffin's new comedy special "Straight to Hell" and I realized something rather shocking...my brand of humor is very much like Kathy Griffin's (though I would hope slightly less acerbic).
Even her bit about going 'straight to hell' is directly out of my comedic routine from high school. And the way she tells it like she sees it (especially when it comes to celebrities), I admit somewhat hesitantly, could come directly from my mouth.
I hope that I'm not quite as bitchy or offensive as she sometimes is...but I fear that behind closed doors, I'm often as bitchy and offensive. Oy.
I do like Kathy Griffin, though. If you happen to catch "Straight to Hell" on Bravo, I recommend watching it.
In other news, on my schedule for today:
- Clean my room. It's disgusting (by my standards)
- Clean my bathroom (it's not so hot either)
- Write my final critique for Women in Film
- Possibly start studying for Anthropology and Chemistry
Lofty goals, n'est-ce pas?
PS - there's a "Project Runway" season three (Jeffrey/Laura/Uli/Michael) last episodes mini-marathon on Bravo. I'm so there. Also, I kinda miss Jeffrey. He was a bit of an asshole and a jerk and not as funny as Santino (the asshole/jerk from season two), but he was a truly superior designer.

So Dane Cook was fun. We splurged and got the $75 tickets, then had several $10 cocktails. I also had to float Colleen a loan for a $35 souvenir hat and $10 for dinner after. So lots of money spent...but at least I'll be getting about $125 of that back.
After Dane, the parking lot was...a parking lot. Traffic wasn't moving at all. So we decided to walk over to Clubhouse...which is only about 10 blocks away. But we ended up making a wrong turn and going about 8 blocks out of our way before turning around and finally finding our destination.
While at Clubhouse, we got chatted up by a guy...probably about 36 and an architect. It was all bullshit, but mostly intellectual bullshit ranging from art and architecture to sexual orientation to Jesus (he's a nice Jewish boy who's good with his hands). It was the more engaging conversation I've had with anyone in months. Refreshing, I would say.
But we didn't home until late. I was in bed at 2am. And had to wake up at 8:30am...so that I could get ready for class, go to Starbucks and study for Chemistry during my morning Anthropology class.
Sadly, I think that all the heavy drinking, late nights, and lack of sleep have made me sick. Or at least put me on the edge of getting sick. I got a hot Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks this morning instead of iced coffee because I thought it would help my scratchy throat. It didn't really. I was coughing all morning. So on the way home from class, I stopped at Walgreens for orange juice, shave gel and envelopes (the last two clearly have nothing to do with me being sick).
My plan is to drink the entire 64 oz. carton today (about 1000% of my daily vitamin C) and for lunch I had chicken noodle soup. Now, I'm laying in bed, watching some TV ("Bones," "House," "Desperate Housewives," "Brothers & Sisters," "Pushing Daisies," "Project Runway," "CSI," and "Grey's Anatomy").

So yesterday I was supposed to have a Chemistry exam. All 400+ of us students went to class, had our Scantrons out and were waiting patiently for the tests to be distributed. And then they were...except that over 100 of us didn't receive an exam.
So my professor postponed the test until Thursday's class, which sucks because I wanted to get it over with already. (This is an important fact, keep it in mind.)
Last night, a bunch of us (two roommates and four neighbors) went to Ale House for dinner and beer...which was really good. Then we chilled for a while at home, played some flip cup and the girls got ready to go out (it takes me about 10 minutes to "get ready" so we were really just waiting on the glamourous ones). Afterward, we went to Devaney's...which was less fun. It was still pretty good, but I regretted all the drinking when I woke up this morning. But I'm feeling better now.
And tonight, against my better judgement, Colleen and I are going to see Dane Cook downtown. It's against my better judgement because tickets (with taxes and parking and everything included) are going to be about $65. Not quite pocket change. Also, if you'll recall from earlier...I have a Chemistry test tomorrow that I really need to study more for.
However, Colleen is REALLY looking forward to it. She's a huge Dane fan and said she literally called every person in her cell phone and no one want to go with her, and I can't let her down by bailing out now.
Plus, I do love stand-up...like...a lot. And Dane Cook is quite funny, though I've only seen one of his DVDs. So money aside, poor judgement aside, Chemistry test aside...I'm going to see Dane tonight.
As a final note, I wasn't planning on returning to Spring Hill until next week for Thanksgiving, but it looks like I'll be heading out there this weekend because my sister Emily just acquired a puppy. I say "acquired" because it was found in the parking lot of her work, and she took it home. So I think I'll be going out there and playing with the puppy (and presumably help take care of him while they are at work).
Isn't he adorable? (And cell phones take some pretty amazing pictures)
