For the second time recently (and by "recently" I mean the past 3 or 4 days), I've had a dream where I was in prison.


Aside from the obvious interpretation, any idea what that means?


To give a little context: the first time, I was falsely accused and was being somewhat mistreated (I would get punished for doing things wrong when I didn't know what I was doing in the first place). Also, Hannibal Lecter was there, but that was obviously from watching Silence of the Lambs recently (though it was a source of great anxiety in the dream).

Then, last night, I was trying to find a way to escape and discussing the prison's weaknesses with other inmates (though I never got a chance to actually attempt escaping). Oh, and Jason Segal was there...you know...because that's normal (and I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall on Saturday).

Both were quite odd, and I can honestly say that I didn't like being in prison.

I have had some BIZARRE dreams lately, though none of them the epic narratives I usually write about.

This week, I started out with a Juno-esque film in which a pregnant Ellen Page (straight out of Juno) is trying to outrun nuns in the 1950s. See, the nuns disapprove of her unplanned and premarital pregnancy and are trying to abort her baby (because apparently the nuns don't have a problem with abortion? I never said it made sense). Anyway, I'm trying to help her escape while secretly hiding my own unplanned and premarital pregnancy so the nuns don't come after me as well.

Then, after a day at the Animal Kingdom where we saw some killer spiders (literally...poisonous spiders and insects), I had a dream that the spiders and ants were all around me and blocking my way out. Specifically, I was in the Bucket O' Soldiers and a spider or ant occupied every hole. Stupid poisonous bugs.

Finally, (and this one takes the cake, in my opinion) last night I had a dream that Nikki and I were in a gymnasium-type place that was being used for a pretty awesome dance party. I'm pretty sure it was on the University of Wisconsin campus, but that's not totally relevant. Anyway, we notice that "everyone" had left so we're walking around and asking if anyone had seen Amanda or Charlie (apparently we were all kicking it up in Madison), when who should walk in but Amanda, Charlie, Tim Burton, and Helena Bonham Carter. They had all gone to the liquor store and had brought back beer, other drinks, and Charlie had a box of alcoholic popsicles (think: juice bars with vodka...I think I'm onto something brilliant here. Can I copyright?). So we all sat down at a folding table and drank.

That's right...in my dream, I was chilling with Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter...at a gym on the University of Wisconsin campus. Wholly bizarre, but totally awesome!

What kinds of things go through my head? Oh, if only you knew!

Also, because I didn't post this earlier and for some of you, I may be your primary source for movie news, the currently-being-planned Toy Story 3 is set to be released in Disney (Real) 3D, the same way The Nightmare Before Christmas was rereleased, and as the Hannah Montana concert thing is being presented currently. Interesting. If you haven't seen something in Real 3D, it's pretty cool. Definitely more subtle than things popping out at you, they work more with layers of depth, so there may be four levels of background receding into the picture.

As a final note, Sweeney Todd is playing at the cheap theater so I may have to take a break from working on my thesis later to see it for a third time for $2.50.

I am feeling less angry than earlier.

After I posted, I found myself thinking a great deal about the dreams I've been having lately, as well as the dreams I have most often in general. I realized that the ones I tend to remember are often violent and deal with death and serial killers, specifically running away from them.

Anybody know what that means?

I'll contribute my foul mood to that...

Since 2pm today, I have been studying nearly non-stop (that's 11 hours, for those of you not up to counting). And I'm actually feeling pretty confident. Which scares me. Because I never feel confident for Dr. Martin's exams.

The good news is that I have my alarm set for 10:30am...enough time to get 9 hours of sleep, but it still gives me 2-3 hours to study before class and make sure I haven't forgotten everything.

Oy. T-minus 13 and a half hours...

Gail is angry. It's an angry day.

I got plenty of sleep last night, and the night before, so it's not that I'm fatigued. Though I have been having very vivid, some-what disturbing dreams as of late. That's not really anything new...but when you wake up having fled the home of a psychotic aristocrat who keeps dead and dying prostitutes in his basement dungeon...it tends to throw you off for the rest of the day.

And the weather today was perfect. It is entirely overcast, not a clear patch of sky in view, and is constantly seconds away from raining, though I haven't seen a drop. It's a cool 71 degrees and I think if it stays like this into the weekend, it will be quite pleasant. (Chris - you should plan on it raining all weekend.)


But classes were terrible. I felt I was wasting my time and I learned a total of NOTHING new...I hate that. In anthropology, all we did was watch video, and chemistry was an in-depth analysis of phase changes (you know...melting/freezing, condensation/evaporation). Boring and obvious.

Not to mention, I have my 19th Century Art exam to study for, so that's not helping my foul mood. This time, we have 31 artists to learn...the highlights being Ingres, Gericault, Delacroix, the Pre-Raphaelites, Constable, and Turner. Thank god we finally got to Realism. Neoclassicism is nice and all, and I like the theory of Romanticism...but 19th Century art, for me, is all about the realism. The sooner we get to Impressionism, the better.

Additionally, I have a leg twitch. I'm used to eye twitches...I used to get them all the time. But this is a muscle spasm in my right leg, just above the knee. It is REALLY ANNOYING, and rather uncomfortable. Nothing I do will make it stop. I wish it were an eye twitch.


I'm sure there are other things that are adding to it...outside frustrations and most likely repressed aggression somewhere along the way, all I know is that I'm in a snappy mood, and it's not good.

I've been having very vivid dreams lately, and quite often too. Definitely the last 3 or 4 nights, and a few here and there in the past week or so.

Some are crazy and out there (like the epic I posted last week), whereas others are most certainly taken almost exclusively from my personal life events.

Last night was one of those skips-around-from-scene-to-scene-with-no-real-common-link dreams.

So that's craziness, but I don't have time to actually analyze it. Must shower and go get my hair cut (it's super long, so I'm going to make it super short).

Later, I'll be driving back to Orlando and most likely seeing The Jane Austen Book Club, because it came out two days ago and I haven't seen it yet!

I mentioned once how I have dreams that are on-par with Hollywood movies, but I think this one takes the cake.

Actually, the dream I had was like a sequel, and for a while after waking up I wracked my brain to discover if the original had been an actual movie, before deciding that I had dreamed it before. But if I haven't dreamed it before, then I had one hell of a backstory to this dream.

So that was all a little crazy and I don't know what I'll do with it, but perhaps some day, years from now, I'll remember that I had a crazy dream that might make a good movie if it were expanded on and polished, and I'll look back here. I guess that's what the tags are for.

In other news, I have submitted my proposal for the Liberal Arts program, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. I have a ton of work to do this week, this weekend, and next week. I only have 7 school days left. Oy.

Oh, and I have to decide ASAP if I'm going back to the Park District. Against everyone's better judgement, I think I might be. There's something familiar and stable there...it's a sure thing. *sigh*
